soap and nails - 300px

If you’re like me, once gardening season hits, it’s hard to keep my fingernails clean. I like feeling the earth and plants against my skin, wearing gloves only when handling thorny plants, moving stones and other rough work. But I don’t like all the scrubbing and soaking it takes to get them clean afterwards.

In looking through my copy of Favourite Gardening Tips by Marjorie Harris the other day, I read her idea to dig your nails in some soap before you go digging in the dirt! That way, your nails are already full of something…something that washes away much more easily than earth! I tried it last night and it worked! Here’s another tip to go with this one…softened soap works best.
