Recent days and weeks of media attention on racism and discrimination in the U.S., Canada and around the world have brought pain, grief, frustration and anger, but also hope.
The Canadian Wildlife Federation shares that sense of hope for change as part of our mission is focused on conservation of wildlife and habitat “…for the use and enjoyment of all.” While messages of support for change are helpful, long-term commitment to action that makes real change is needed.
CWF has taken action over many years and is building on this through a comprehensive approach that includes working with all staff to learn from their experiences, review of current policies, training and working with external experts to assess and continue to improve our practices and progress.
Real progress on these issues can only come from a long-term commitment to make actual changes — one person and one organization at a time.

Thank you for a measured and rational response to the whole “black lives matter” issue. Many organizations have been addressing racism appropriately for a long through their focus on diversity and inclusion long before it became “woke” trend.
I am the immediate Past-President of APEGA (Assoc. Of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Alberta). About 25% of our members are internationally trained or educated.
We haven’t deemed it necessary to jump on the new bandwagon because we’ve been driving our own quietly for years,
It looks as though CWF has been doing the same thing.
Thank you again for your measured response!
