Even water that looks clean and pristine can be seriously polluted. Chemical pollutants enter our water from industrial activities, agriculture and our homes. Although healthy aquatic ecosystems like bogs and wetlands can purify polluted water, they just can’t keep up with the amount of toxins that we are dumping into them.
Chemical pollutants in water can lower fertility, damage immune systems or cause deformities, tumours and even death in aquatic species. Humans can also suffer some of these effects when our drinking water becomes polluted.

I live in a rural area and it is a common practice for some to stock pile old vehicles, campers and materials, instead of disposing of them properly ..Some items are actually buried in the ground or fluids filled containers piled and burned.. The laws need to change regarding issues such as these and land owners forced into cleaning up their environment properly.. It is nothing to see vehicles pushed into the woods to rot… It’s the fluids that leak out that I’m concerned with.. One must realize that in rural area’s, there is no one to enforce the rules so most often it is done with which ever method is easiest, not caring about their environment…
This area hosts a huge number of natural lakes and waterways and some flow into the Lahave River which empties into the Atlantic Ocean. Others run down into the Valley and into the Minas Basin.. .. There is always a trickle down effect and we all need to do our part.. Stiff penalties need to be implemented and carried though to drive the point home…
