They\u2019re having <em>such<\/em> a hard time that <strong>they\u2019ve declined by more than 99 per cent in Ontario<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>It\u2019s Not Looking Good for the Eels<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-standard wp-image-6318\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/American-eel-SL110_CWF-sean-landsman-1100x640.jpg\" alt=\"american eel @ sean landsman\" width=\"1100\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why it\u2019s more important than ever that they become listed. They\u2019re already considered Threatened by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada, but they still haven\u2019t been listed under the <em>Species at Risk Act<\/em>. <strong>Getting listed would make such a big impact for the American Eel<\/strong>. It would protect the species. And they certainly need our protection!<\/p>\n<p>The good news? The Department of Fisheries and Oceans is in the final stages of developing listing advice to Cabinet on whether or not to add the American Eel to the <em>Species at Risk Act<\/em>. The bad news?
