As you can see below if there weren\u2019t any control measures in place it would just spread and spread. This area is roughly 4 hectares in size.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_1569-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-451\" alt=\"IMG_1569 (1)\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_1569-1.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I was in a small motor boat hand picking this plant. There were others in what are called cutter and collector boats; there were also others in chest waders hand picking.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_1573-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-452\" alt=\"IMG_1573 (1)\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_1573-1.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the \u201cseed\u201d of the water chestnut plant which is in the sediment. It was first discovered at this park when a visitor stepped on the seed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_1562.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-453\" alt=\"IMG_1562\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_1562.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We filled many buckets and had a very successful day!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_1575.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-454\" alt=\"IMG_1575\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_1575.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>If you live near Ottawa or Montreal or are planning on being in the area, Voyageur Provincial Park is looking for volunteers to help them in the removal of this highly invasive plant.
