{"id":3233,"date":"2017-01-18T21:16:54","date_gmt":"2017-01-18T21:16:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/?p=3233"},"modified":"2017-01-18T21:33:55","modified_gmt":"2017-01-18T21:33:55","slug":"support-for-st-anns-bank-mpa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/index.php\/en\/support-for-st-anns-bank-mpa\/","title":{"rendered":"Support for the St. Anns Bank Marine Protected Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The Government of Canada is proposing St. Anns Bank in Nova Scotia as Canada\u2019s next Marine Protected Area\u00a0under Canada\u2019s <em>Oceans Act<\/em>.<\/h2>\n<p>Canada is striving to protect 10% of marine and coastal areas by 2020 and <a href=\"http:\/\/news.gc.ca\/web\/article-en.do?mthd=advSrch&amp;crtr.mnthndVl=&amp;crtr.mnthStrtVl=&amp;crtr.page=2&amp;nid=1171419\" target=\"_blank\">proposing St. Anns Bank as the next Marine Protected Area<\/a> (MPA) is a step in the right direction.<\/p>\n<p>Located east of Cape Breton, St. Anns Bank is an area rich in biodiversity. Its many unique habitats are home to at-risk species such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca\/species-especes\/profiles-profils\/wolffish-loup-at-eng.html\" target=\"_blank\">Atlantic Wolffish<\/a>.
