With features including mountains, glaciers, valleys, bare rock and undisturbed wilderness this river and its surroundings offer breathtaking landscapes everywhere you look.<\/p>\n<p>Featuring:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Fisher and Lowell Glaciers, two of the longest and largest glaciers in the world<\/li>\n<li>The Alsek dunes<\/li>\n<li>Large mammals including grizzly bears, black bears, lynx, wolves, wolverines, moose and Dall\u2019s sheep<\/li>\n<li>Over 170 bird species\u00a0 including peregrine falcons, bald eagles and golden eagles<\/li>\n<li>Plant species that aren&#8217;t found anywhere else in the Yukon<\/li>\n<li>Huge waves, swift currents, cold water temperatures and dangerous rapids which make for extremely dangerous kayaking and rafting \u2013 in fact anyone who is thinking about this excursion must first contact the park warden service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While I would love to visit this River and take in some of it&#8217;s spectacular views, I&#8217;ll leave the water navigation to others!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Lowell-Glacier.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-310\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.cwf-fcf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Lowell-Glacier.jpg\" alt=\"Lowell Glacier\" width=\"640\" height=\"497\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geology.gov.yk.ca\/lowell_glacier.html\">[PHOTO &#8211; LOWELL GLACIER]<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrs.ca\/Rivers\/Alsek\/Alsek-F_e.php\">Reference Material<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-excerpt\">[PHOTO &#8211; ALSEK RIVER] The Yukon\u2019s Alsek River is found in Kluane National Park Reserve.
