But we love turtles so much, we\u2019re dedicated a brand new project to helping save our turtle populations.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve partnered up with a local, like-minded organization called <a href=\"http:\/\/donate.cwf-fcf.org\/site\/R?i=jOhlMH4pRBrQiD7NY-Jfnw\">Scales Nature Park<\/a> to launch an exciting turtle conservation program in the Muskoka region; it\u2019s called <a href=\"http:\/\/donate.cwf-fcf.org\/site\/R?i=oKIhXbVL69FNQVec1TQ3tQ\">Saving Turtles At Risk Today (S.T.A.R.T.) Muskoka Turtle Project<\/a>. And now we need your help!<\/p>\n<h2>START Muskoka Turtle Project Family Event<\/h2>\n<p>How would you like to mix and mingle with real live turtles? Then bring your kids and family to the START Muskoka Turtle Project Family Event. Join us Saturday August 16th from 11am till 3pm at <a href=\"http:\/\/donate.cwf-fcf.org\/site\/R?i=6U8pOwC33Lt6wG8b2cy5_Q\">Turtle Jack<\/a>\u2019s Muskoka Grill (Port Carling, Ontario) for an afternoon of interactive family fun and timely turtle education. See, touch, get photographed with and learn about Muskoka\u2019s at-risk turtle species. Admission is free! All proceeds raised directly support the <a href=\"http:\/\/donate.cwf-fcf.org\/site\/R?i=YtJdNyYVh_ekNMz-Z-z2QA\">S.T.A.R.T. Adopt-a-Turtle and expand your family!<\/p>\n<h2>How your donation will make a difference<\/h2>\n<p>Did you know that seven of the eight turtles found in Ontario are at-risk? <a href=\"http:\/\/donate.cwf-fcf.org\/site\/R?i=0dC0Af3-uYfIrpvjrOHGkw\">S.T.A.R.T.<\/a> Muskoka Turtle Project targets a variety of turtle species in Muskoka; painted, snapping, Blanding\u2019s, map, musk and spotted, with a particular focus on the Blanding\u2019s and spotted turtle. These little guys, especially the Blanding\u2019s turtle, are largely affected by habitat loss and road mortality. What\u2019s worse is that female turtles need to lay eggs for decades to successfully produce the next generation; when a female turtle is killed the next generation is greatly affected. A bad deal for these little guys!
