Spring is here and you know what that means? It’s time to Walk for Wildlife!

Last year, thousands of Canadians from coast to coast participated in Walk for Wildlife helping us walk a grand total of 30,000 kilometres – doubling our original goal of 15,000 km. In total, we had 30 organized walks across the country encouraging Canadians to get outdoors. Not bad at all if we do say so ourselves!

This year we’re focusing on raising awareness and funds for species at-risk, including the burrowing owl. This little owl was once common in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia but the burrowing owl is now much rarer.

You can help species at-risk, like the burrowing owl, by:

Remember: Raise more than $100 and receive a free “Give a Hoot” burrowing owl t-shirt. Our top Walk for Wildlife fundraiser and their guest will head off on a trip to Calgary, Alberta to participate in a species at-risk field research project with our friends at the Calgary Zoo.
